Cherar Kottai - 1

Last quarter of 10th Century CE. When a young soldier and a sergeant from Chōḷa army are ordered by King Rājarāja Chōḷa-I to carry an important message to the Chēra country, little do they realize that they are embarking on a legendary mission that would alter their lives - and that of the Chōḷa country - forever. Nor do they know that their pasts are intertwined with their present mission in a complex web of events… and a century old rivalry is waiting to be settled. Etched in the annals of history as the conquest of Kāndalūr Sāla - a reputed institution in ancient Kerala, Cherar Kottai (the fort of Chēras) is a monumental adventure of epic proportions. Steeped in history and set in the backdrop of Kalaripayattu - an ancient martial art form of Kērala, this fiction is the fruit of several years of passionate research and labor.
