Keanu Reeves, born in Beirut, Lebanon, is a Canadian actor and musician known for his diverse roles and amiable public image. Reeves's parents divorced when he was young, and his mother moved the family to various locations, including Sydney and New York City, before settling in Toronto. He attended four different high schools and was eventually expelled from the Etobicoke School of the Arts for being "too rambunctious".

Reeves has dyslexia, which he says contributed to him not being a good student. He was a successful ice hockey goalkeeper with aspirations to play for the Canadian Olympic team, but his hockey career ended due to an injury.

Early in his acting career, agents suggested he change his name because it was "too ethnic". He briefly used "K. C." or "Casey" Reeves before reverting to his given name.
