#1 I was pregnant with my second child, Miss Katie, in 1979 when I met Nancy Meyers and Charles Shyer at a restaurant in Hollywood. They had been working on a new project, and they wanted me to play the lead role. I was excited about the prospect of playing a strong female character.

#2 I was excited to be producing my first film, and I was excited to have a female director, Arthur Hiller, who had directed The In-Laws. However, I was also nervous about the prospect of producing a film that was about a woman going into the Army.

#3 I was extremely happy and fulfilled with my life, but I was also constantly worried about the pressure of having to balance work and family. I was beginning to feel like I was being left out of the Hollywood parade.

#4 I had finally come to terms with the fear of not being liked, and my tenacity and determination to be true to the person I had become were sacrosanct. I didn’t give up.
