#1 I was never much of a journal writer. I loved the idea of having a rich spiritual life, but I was too busy with my consulting career to journal. That all changed on November 1, 1996, when I caught my husband sleeping with his secretary. I called him and told him I wanted a divorce. He didn’t say much, but he hung up on me.

#2 When my husband began to kill me by his rages, I did not journal, I just sat and cried in the living room with the phone unplugged so I wouldn’t hear his threats. I felt like I had to vent my anger and fear, so I wrote thirty pages of furious, full-speed-ahead scribbling.

#3 I would write down my thoughts and prayers every morning, and the Voice would always answer. I would write about my fears and weaknesses, and the Voice would write about strength and divine wisdom.

#4 I began having conversations with my soul journal, and the Voice helped me shift my thinking. I wrote about how I was getting answers, and how my life was changing. I asked for miracles, and the next day my mother sent me ten thousand dollars.
