#1 Acupuncture is the stimulation of specific acupuncture points along the skin of the body involving various methods such as penetration by thin needles or the application of heat, pressure, or laser light. It is a form of alternative medicine and a key component of traditional Chinese medicine.

#2 The meridian system is a traditional Chinese medicine belief about a path through which the life energy known as qi flows. The meridian network is typically divided into two categories, the jingmai or meridian channels and the luomai or associated vessels.

#3 San Jiao is a term found in traditional Chinese medicine, and it is used to describe the workings of the human body attempted by early Chinese medical writers. It is used in the practice of Chinese herbal medicine, along with acupuncture and other Chinese medicine modalities.

#4 The Upper Jiao refers to the upper part of the body, and includes the Heart, Lung, and Pericardium organs. The Pericardium is the corresponding internal organ of the Triple Burner.
