However, the sport saw a revival in the early 20th century, thanks to key figures like Duke Kahanamoku. Known as the "father of modern surfing," Kahanamoku was a Hawaiian Olympic swimmer who shared his passion for surfing with the world. His demonstrations in places like Australia and California helped spark global interest in the sport.
