Surpanakha was the youngest child of Rishi Vishrava and his second wife, Kaikesi. Some versions of the Ramayana says that Surpanakha had no real romantic interest in the brothers, Rama and Lakhsmana but instead engineered Ravana's death in revenge for her husband Vidyujjihva's murder. According to Valmiki, she was instantly smitten by Rama's good looks in the forest of Panchavati and got rejected by him. This is our version of Surpanakha's story taken from different versions of Ramayana.
