in our time

Ernest Hemingway's "In Our Time" is a collection of short stories and vignettes that was first published in 1925. It's considered one of Hemingway's early masterpieces and an important work in American literature.

The book is divided into two parts. The first part consists of short stories that depict various aspects of life, often focusing on themes such as war, love, masculinity, and the human condition. These stories are notable for their spare, minimalist style and their exploration of complex emotions and relationships.

The second part of "In Our Time" features a series of vignettes, or short descriptive passages, which provide glimpses into the lives of different characters and settings. These vignettes serve to enhance the overall atmosphere and mood of the book, offering readers a more impressionistic and fragmented view of the world.

"In Our Time" showcases Hemingway's distinctive writing style, characterized by its economy of language, understated prose, and emphasis on the unsaid. The book's exploration of existential themes and its innovative narrative techniques have cemented its status as a classic of modernist literature.
