Long-Awaited first book by the popular poet and playwright. Chinaka Hodge has toured the U.S. both as a touring poet and as a hip-hop artist with her group the Getback. Her poems, editorials, interviews and prose have been featured in Newsweek, San Francisco Magazine, Believer Magazine, PBS, NPR, CNN, C-Span, and in two seasons of HBO’s Def Poetry.

Chinaka's plays Mirrors in Every Corner and Chasing Mehserle were very popular on their runs in the Bay Area and represented the search for justice of police killings in Oakland - a subject her poems touch on as well.

Chinaka has appeared twice on Russell Simmons Def Poetry Jam on HBO and was an associate producer on the related HBO show Brave New Voices, she was the star of Atmopshere's music video for the song "Kanye West," and has written articles for The Believer, McSweeney's "The Panorama," and San Francisco Magazine
