Kerala Story Screening Banned In Bengal, Jitendra Awhad's Comment Stirs Controversy In Maharashtra

"The movie, The Kerala Story has stirred controversy in the country even before it was released. While the movie has been criticized by Kerala leaders and people saying it is an attempt to defame the state, some states especially BJP ruled-like Madhya Pradesh and UP have moved towards making it a tax-free movie. Even the chief ministers of these states, promoted the movie and appealed to everyone to watch it. This came after the movie received support from PM Modi during a campaign rally in Poll-Bound Karnataka. Now On one hand when some state govts are making it tax-free and appealing people to watch it, on the other some state govts especially those ruled by the opposition are considering banning it, citing that the film may provoke people and create communal disharmony. On Monday, West bengal CM Mamata Banerjee in a Press conference announced that the movie will be banned in the state. The Makers have however moved to court against this ban.
