Kendrick Lamar, born Kendrick Lamar Duckworth, is a highly acclaimed rapper, songwriter, and filmmaker. He began releasing music as K.Dot in high school and signed with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) in 2005. His second album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, was gangsta rap-influenced and became the longest-charting hip hop studio album in Billboard history. His third album, To Pimp a Butterfly, infused hip-hop with African-American genres and became his first of five consecutive number-one albums.
