Lights Shadow

These poems focus mainly on the hardships people experience in life, whether it be love, rejection, or fading mental health. The book does not stop there: instead of looking through a secular lens, it focuses on being all inclusive to readers by only using first person in a handful of the poems. What Dayshawn Robinson sees happening and has experienced is injected into the writing, making it more personalized for the readers. This allows the poems to be more relatable to the readers who might be going through troubles, and it captures the hearts of readers who have not experienced certain troubles or are well off. These poems are an open world lens, meant for the audience to interpret as they please while regarding each poem injected with human feelings through life experiences. A shadow figure goes through the hardships not having a certain name or even an identity.
