#1 Hefner was forty-five, and had been with hundreds of photogenic women since starting his magazine, but he enjoyed female companionship more than ever. He was a sex junkie with an insatiable habit.

#2 Del’s life was a mess. He was a lawyer, and while he was very successful, his public visibility was creating a problem because he was also a sexual addict. He would initiate relationships with women, feeling that he was in love, but would desperately wish to be free after the initial sexual contact.

#3 Del’s story is one of constant predicaments. His addictive behavior put him in situations where he was vulnerable to tremendous consequences. His degradation was only exceeded by the violation of his own principles.

#4 Sexual addiction is similar to other forms of addiction. It is a pathological relationship with a mood-altering chemical. The addict substitutes a sick relationship with an event or a process for a healthy relationship with others.
