49ers Talk with Matt Maiocco

The 49ers enjoyed a bump in their playoff position without lifting a finger in their bye week, the last of the NFL season. The other teams battled it out in a blockbuster of matchups with gargantuan postseason implications across the board in both NFL conferences. In the NFC, the Green Bay Packers leapfrogged the Chicago Bears to take the No. 2 overall seed while dropping their division rivals to the seventh and final wild-card position, a precipitous fall for an opponent in one afternoon of work. The 49ers will play those Bears in a Sunday night clash in Week 17, which surely will intrigue. But, first come the Tennessee Titans in a matinee next Sunday, a potent opponent with nothing to lose. On this episode of "49ers Talk," co-hosts Matt Maiocco and Jennifer Lee Chan look ahead to San Francisco's final four games, a stretch that will test it in all phases and could define the rest of the team's entire season.

President of Football Operations/General Manager John Lynch joins '49ers Talk,' co-host Matt Maiocco for an update on the organization before San Francisco starts its final stretch of the 2025 NFL season. The 49ers, on Sunday, notched their first three-game winning streak since the opening three weeks of the season and won in Cleveland for the first time since Nov. 1984. The 49ers' latest win was exhibition in execution from the kickoff as they played complimentary football in all three phases. Brock Purdy played errorless football with excellent decision-making, while extending plays when needed. The special teams group bolstered the 49ers' field-position on returns and made timely kicks when needed, while the defense has been humming the last few weeks, creating turnovers and finally adding an element of pressure from the D-line that spurred San Francisco to victory. Christian McCaffrey faces former Panthers team in Week 12 matchup

Brock Purdy's return sparked the 49ers' offense, it also brought a much needed divisional win in a blowout against the Cardinals. Purdy threw for three touchdowns on Sunday, two of which went to a favorite target in tight end George Kittle and the other went to offensive fulcrum Christian McCaffrey, who leads the NFL in scrimmage yards this season through Week 11. Skyy Moore set the tone, returning the opening kickoff 98 yards to the 1-yard line, setting up a McCaffrey 1-yard touchdown run. San Francisco maintained control throughout the game, one in which Arizona did itself no favors accumulating a franchise-record 17 penalties. San Francisco did not escape Arizona unscathed though, as kicker Eddy Piñeiro suffered a hamstring injury in the third quarter that could force the team to bring in a new kicker.
