Also day one of the Government shutdown produced a myriad of partisan opinions across every media outlet with health care for illegals being the hot topic, audio from Joy Reid on being a "victim" since her parents lived in poverty yet her annual salary was 3 million dollars, audio from Speaker Johnson explaining how health care subsidies won't expire before providers establish new policies, audio from Nancy Pelosi assuring AOC is not directing the shut down and a quick "view" at The View.

10-02-25 Part Two - Emotional Support Weed

In part one of Red Eye Radio with Gary McNamara and Eric Harley, "Sorry folks..the park's closed..the moose out front shoulda told ya" .. Vacation. 

Feels kinda weird but yeah..for the first time in five years, the Government is officially closed for at least two weeks as of midnight this morning. The big question on everyone's mind is "will this affect my social security and healthcare?" The short answer is .. no. Roughly 30% of federal employees are on furlough and some may not be returning to work when the Government opens. Basically a government shutdown happens when Congress can neither pass all 12 appropriations bills needed to fund the government, nor pass a continuing resolution which typically keeps funding levels static while lawmakers hustle to finish their work on spending bills. Programs like Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid will continue, along with the Postal Service, Veterans' Affairs hospitals and clinics, and Immigration and Border Patrol security activities, among others. Federal employees will likely go without pay, however, and a string of agencies will see their services hampered by furloughs, like the IRS and Small Business Administration. Housing programs may also see a delay in rental assistance and loans. 

Also on today's show, a yelling match between Sen. Josh Hawley and a former Biden administration official broke out in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing over the need for "two spirit" safe spaces to combat gun violence and Pete Hegseth's ambitious 10-point plan to transform the military.

Also Philadelphia’s Office of Immigrant Affairs plans to hoist the red flag emblazoned with the star of the Chinese Communist Party in front of city hall today to celebrate the anniversary of the establishment of the CCP (we only wish we were joking), sports is dominating social media, audio from Rand Paul on his "penny plan" and audio from Benjamin Netanyahu declaring victory with or without the help of the U.S. Also Kamala Harris reveals hypotheticals based on writings in her new book, Bad Bunny's ICE comments resurface as NFL fans debate selection of Super Bowl LX halftime show performer and a story in Axios speculating why Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer upholds his position on a Government shutdown.

After an about-face from Disney, the liberal comedian returned last Tuesday, and Kimmel’s emotional return drew a massive audience, but viewers haven’t stuck around. On Thursday, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" averaged 2.3 million total viewers — a staggering 64% drop from the 6.5 million who tuned in for Tuesday’s much-hyped return. Also audio from Geraldo Rivera supporting Donald Trump by going off on James Comey and audio from JD Vance saying we are headed for a Govt. shutdown.
