The 40k Lorecast

On today’s cast we continue our coverage of the Salamanders with a dive into Vulkan coming to lead his legion. With his initial efforts to uplift their technology and recruitment pool by building up nocturn, then his saving of the legion from certain destruction at the hands of the orks. And then to make Brad sad we spend a bunch of time on Vulkan being a A-hole. We then jump to Vulkan and the Salamanders all dying it Isstvan 5, well not Vulkan because he is a Highlander. But then Vulkan is captured by Konrad, which is not ideal We then close with Vulkan returning to Terra just in time to assist the Emperor in his hour of need.

Episode 116 - The Salamanders, Vulkan takes one to the dome, and then another, and then some more.... fine Vulkan just dies a lot

On today’s cast we talk about the Salamander (finally). Starting with the origins of the 18th legion and their actions during the unification wars. AKA underground bunker attack! We then talk about the after affects of this, namely the 18th legion being a tiny legion in comparison to the other legions. And just before they were potentially going extinct we jump to Vulkan! And his super fun but also weird origin story, namely the point where he meets the emperor and they have a very strange competition.

Episode 115 - The Salamanders, rise of the 18th legion and Vulkan

On today’s cast we talk about the Drukhari some more. Starting with the rise of the Kabals in the dark city. With a focus on their origins, how they function, how they are created, and their role in the Drukhari. Bonus Episode - Retro Recall with John and Tom

On today’s cast we finish our coverage of the Badab War. Opening with the state of the affairs with the arrival of more space marines into the region. For there we cover the failure of the parley (or was it a failure), and the increase in hostilities. After that we talk about the truth behind the size of the forces of the Astral Claws and the Tiger Claws (surprise). And then the arrival of the Carcharodons to the war and their “unique” style of war. From there we begin the linear progression of the war into the Astral Claws being all alone but still holding there own, until the loyalists come up with a “super special plan.” We the conclude with the post events of the war with the creation of the Red Corsairs from the fleeing Astral Claws, and how the imperium handles the other secessionists.

Episode 113 - Badab war pt 2 - the war breaks wide open

On today’s cast we begin our coverage of the Badab War. Opening with a breakdown of the real situation between the chapters of the space marines and the Lords of Terra. From there we jump into the Maelstrom sector and the Astral Claws function there, with Huron rising up to seizing control of and then calling himself the “tyrant of Badab,” to which everyone just went “yeah sounds normal.” We then follow the path as the Claws come into conflict with the Kathargo trade lords, and how this conflict eventually led to a full scale war in the sector. Before we finish though we go into the numerous alliances that turned this sector into southern Europe in 1914.

Episode 112 - The Badab war pt 1 - The lead up to the conflict

On today’s cast we will be starting our coverage of the Carcharodons! Opening with what the hell is a Carcharodon, and where are they in the codexes? After that we dive into how they function with as solid debate over whether or not they are chaotic good (John believes they are) and then a bunch of examples of why Brad believes they are not. With focuses on how the fleet functions, their support staff (they are not really there willingly) and how they reinforce themselves (also awful). We then dive into how they wage combat and why they are have been sent to the other side of the galaxy. We then close out debating on what each of us thinks their true origins really are.
