‘The National Project for Instilling Fear in the people has reached completion. Before the promised highways and jobs, everybody has been unfailingly given one thing—fear. For every individual, fear is now the daily bread. We are all experiencing fear; it comes to us in many different forms—from the moment we step out of our homes, with so many warnings ringing in our ears... It is only the lapdog media which is safe in India today. Jump into and snuggle down in the lap of authority and nobody will dare say anything to you.’ In this book, Ravish Kumar examines why debate and dialogue have given way to hate and intolerance in India, how elected representatives, the media and other institutions are failing us and looks at ways to repair the damage to our democracy. ©Speaking Tiger Publishing Pvt Ltd.

Very nice book written by Ravish Kumar a true journalist of present time. He has the strength to stand against the power when others are lay down or sold out.. This book very well explained the democratic values and how the journalism should be.. The voice should be free from all barriers and it should always raised against the power that is the soul of democracy..

One of the few extra-ordinary books from India! Great insight, forthright, succinctand rather a forensic analysis of the onslaught on democracy, press freedom, the Neo-fascist nature of Indian polity etc. I strongly recommend the book everyone with any degree of respect for democracy and national unity.

The content is good. The editing is poor, the beginning of many sentences are not clear.

Really informative. Calling it a mere book won't suffice. It's also a kind of wakeup call for us Indians about what we are putting ourselves into.
