In Meg's eyes, only gullible fools believe in things like ghosts or love. But as her roommates Sol and Alexei take the next step in their lives, Meg finds herself stuck, uncertain about her future and even more uncertain about her feelings for her best friend, Athos. He wants more than friendship, and Meg does not yet know what she wants at all.

Her doubts deepen when she begins slipping into strange trances that show her the lives of two other girls. One dreams of becoming a voodoo priestess. The other longs to escape a rigid Christian cult. Despite Meg's disbelief in the supernatural, the visions cannot, will not, be ignored.
