Fighting for the King

The French Revolutionary War, 1793. When the Revolutionaries execute his friend Alan, Gregory Kennett purchases a commission in the 136th Foot.

Marching from siege to skirmish, Kennett learns that war and soldiering is not what he expected. The French seem to have marked his regiment for destruction, but Gregory wonders if they are hunting his cynical, hard drinking company commander, or the French servant he managed to smuggle to safety.

As the campaign unravels and Europe shifts beneath marching feet, one man’s hidden past may decide who lives long enough to see home again. And then, the bitter winter of 1795 closes in... and only survival matters.

A tale of duty and courage set in the French Revolutionary War, FIGHTING FOR THE KING is the first book in the Kennett's Campaigns series of historical novels by Malcolm Archibald.
