Notes for Forge Shop Practice - A Course for High Schools

This is a vintage textbook designed for students learning to use a forge at school. It comprises a series of exercises coupled with all the necessary explanatory notes and working drawing required for proper instruction. "Notes for Forge Shop Practice" would be ideal for someone seeking an introduction to blacksmithing and would make for a fantastic addition to collections of allied literature. Contents include: "Notes on Iron. Cast, Malleable and Wrought", "Puddling", "The Forge", "Building and Care of the Fire", "The Anvil", "The Hand Hammer", "Tools", "Different Heats for Working Iron", "Drawing and Forming Iron", "Ring", "S Hook", "Eye Bolt", "Staples", "Gate Hook", "Art of Welding", "Fire for Welding", et cetera. Many vintage books such as this are increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern edition complete with a specially commissioned new introduction on blacksmithing. This book was first published in 1910.
