Notes on Shoeing Horses

"Notes on Shoeing Horses" is an comprehensive but accessible handbook on horse shoeing, with chapters on anatomy, general care and maintenance, remedies for specific ailments, and more. Although old, much of the information contained within this book is timeless, and it will be of considerable utility to modern horse owners and farriers. Contents include: "Reason of the need of Shoeing", "Preservation of the Crust or Outer Wall of the Foot", "Remuneration to Farriers for Good Workmanship", "Structure of the Foot", "Of the Crust or External Wall of the Foot", "Structure of the Crust", "Effect of Rasping the Crust", "Crust to be Lowered", etc. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in a modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially commissioned new introduction on maintaining and caring for horses.
