Our Old Home

This vintage book contains a collection of essays written by Nathaniel Hawthorne during his stay in England from 1853 to 1853. In these writings, Hawthorne's humour, empathy, patriotism, and sharp judgement are displayed as he takes us on a tour through rural England and Scotland. The work displays the whole gamut of life, from the grandeur of London, to the horrors of poverty suffered by many. This book is recommended for those with an interest in nineteenth century England, and it is not to be missed by fans and collectors of Hawthorne's work. The essays of this collection include: "Consular Experiences", "Leamington Spa", "About Warwick", "Recollections of a Gifted Woman", "Lichfield and Uttoxeter", "Pilgrimage to Old Boston", "Near Oxford", "Some of the Haunts of Burns", "A London Suburb", "Up The Thames", etcetera. Many vintage texts such as this are increasingly scarce and expensive, and it is with this in mind that we are republishing this book now, in an affordable, high-quality, modern edition. It comes complete with a specially commissioned biography of the author.
