The Pictish Witch

Set against the backdrop of 11th century Scotland, begins the story of three witches bound by blood, legend and magic.

The year is 1034 A.D. and an ageing king is soon to die, bringing a period of unrest across the ancient Kingdom of Alba. Eithne, a young woman honing her witchcraft, experiences the ripple effect of this change with devastating consequences.

A prophecy would see her and those she loves dead. With the help of her brother, a mysterious woman in white and a faithful wolf, she takes a perilous journey across the wilds of the Highlands to seek the protection of one Macbethad of Moray.

Among his court of warriors, she will find friendship, love - and danger. As the threat of the prophecy draws ever closer, Eithne must take fate into her own hands, knowing that the choices she makes will shape the destiny of a kingdom.

A rich blend of historical fiction and Celtic fantasy, inspired by the life of the real Macbeth, THE PICTISH WITCH is the first book in the Macbethad Chronicles by E.L. Curley.
