The famous anti-slavery novel that went a long way to challenge the status quo of pre-Civil War America. The best selling novel of the 19th century, its legacy today is divided, being both a famous "vital antislavery tool", but also helping to establish many black stereotypes. DISCLAIMER: This book was written in 1852 and is thus a product of its time. As such much of the language and stereotypes may be shocking or insulting to a modern audience.
