Interesting story, quite captivating. The author is not consistent with Polish names (Wladek is a diminutive like Johnny so it would never be used in official situations, on the other hand Zofia sounds formal and friends would call her Zosia). The narrator's imitation of a Polish accent is just terrible, sounds more like a German accent, which is nothing even close!
