Erin Hunter

Erin Hunter is not a single individual, but a collective pseudonym for a group of talented authors and illustrators who have captivated the imaginations of young readers around the globe. The team, originally comprising Victoria Holmes, Kate Cary, Cherith Baldry, and later joined by others such as Tui T. Sutherland and Inbali Iserles, has produced several beloved juvenile fantasy series. These series, including *Warriors*, *Seekers*, *Survivors*, *Bravelands*, and *Bamboo Kingdom*, delve into the rich and intricate worlds of animals and their thrilling adventures. The unique collaborative approach allows for a diverse and expansive storytelling experience, with Holmes creating the plots and the other authors and illustrators taking turns to bring these stories to life. The series created under the Erin Hunter pseudonym have not only garnered a massive following but have also significantly contributed to the genre of animal fantasy.

The inception of Erin Hunter began in 2003 when HarperCollins approached Victoria Holmes to create a fantasy series centered around the lives and adventures of feral cats. Despite her initial hesitation, Holmes's storyline became the foundation of the *Warriors* series, which was further developed and written by Cary and subsequently, other authors. The choice of a collective pseudonym was strategic, aiming to unify the series under one name for ease of library placement and to evoke the adventurous spirit of their animal characters. Over the years, Erin Hunter has expanded its team to include a wider range of illustrators, such as James L. Barry and Bettina M. Kurkoski, who have brought the stories to visual life through manga and graphic novels. Erin Hunter's work remains a testament to the power of collaboration in creating imaginative worlds that continue to enchant and inspire young readers.
