يعد كتاب الوساطة بين المتنبي وخصومه للقاضي علي بن عبد العزيز الجرجاني (392 هـ) ثمرة لما أثاره شعر أبي الطيب المتنبي (354 هـ) من حركة نقدية واسعة في القرن الرابع الهجري، بعد أنْ هدأت آثار تلك المعركة التي دارت حول شعر أبي تمام والبحتري في القرن الثالث الهجري. إن كتاب الوساطة يمثل في مجمله دراسة موضوعية لشعر أبي الطيب، ولمواقف خصومه منه، وكان الجرجاني يصدر فيها عن رؤية القاضي الذي يجمع الأدلة والقرائن والمسوغات التي تسعفه في إصدار حكم عادل.
