هذه الرواية تدور احداثها في ستينيات القرن العشرين، حيث ترصد رحلة الطبيب "ناجى"، اليهودى الاخير الذي يرفض ان يترك العراق بعد تعرض اليهود لمضايقات واحداث عنف راح ضحيتها كثير منهم، ففرو - فى هجرة جماعية - الى اسرائيل واروبا، ورغم اصرار "ناجى" على البقاء، الا انه يصبح هدفا للمتصرف، الذي يتهمه بتأليب الفلاحين ضد الحكومة، لتبدأ رحلة الطبيب اليهودى، تلك الرحلة التى تضع النهاية لكوابيس الليل التى طالما قضت مضجعه.
