تتنوع أجواء قصص "حجاب محبة"، بين الواقع والفانتازيا ومراوغة الأحلام والتخيلات الرمزية. تمضي الكاتبة في هذه القصص باحثة عن الحكايات في أكثر من اتجاه، الحقيقة المجردة والعبث المطلق، إلى جانب الخيبة في ملاحقة الأحلام الهاربة. أبطال هذه القصص تتقاطع مصائرهم عند تشابهات فريدة في حدوثها وتجاورها في طغيان مشاعر الاغتراب، والرغبة في التحليق بعيدا، هذا ما نجده في قصة " ثلاث ساعات قبل الرحيل" و"صندوق كرتوني يشبه الحياة" و"مدينة الألعاب"و"اعتراف"، وغيرهم من القصص. يجد القارئ أيضا في بعض القصص تساؤلات فلسفية، تشغل ذهن الأبطال، فالموت صنو الحياة يحل عبر اغفاءة قصيرة تترك سؤالا عميقا كما في قصص "سفر"، " الموتى لا يكذبون"، " لون مر" وغيرها.
