Arjuna, the third of the five Pandava brothers, played a very important role in the conflict between the Pandavas and the Kauravas in the Indian epic, Mahabharata. His name means “shining” or "silver”. Like his name, Arjuna represents the brightest aspects of humanity, courage, strength, humility, intelligence, wisdom and commitment to truth and justice. At the same time he also stands for all who face difficult circumstances in life and question the meaning of suffering. In the Bhagavad Gita, he is seen battling his ethical crisis in the dialogue with Lord Krishna where he is counselled about the nature of the universe, duty, and devotion.
