A memoir of wonder. A journey back to the lost innocence and mystical beauty of a Welsh childhood.

Far Off Things is the first volume of Arthur Machen's celebrated autobiography, published in 1922. It is not a work of horror fiction but a lyrical, deeply evocative memoir that serves as the essential key to understanding the origins of Machen's unique genius for mystical and weird fiction.

The book is a nostalgic and highly poetic account of his childhood and early life, focusing primarily on the profound impact of his upbringing in Caerleon-on-Usk and the Welsh countryside.

Far Off Things is a stunning piece of literary non-fiction, renowned for its evocative prose and its profound testament to the idea that the greatest realities are always hidden in the past and in the spirit of place.
