Französisch und Spanisch gehören nach Englisch zu den beliebtesten Schulfremdsprachen in Deutschland. Dennoch lernen immer weniger SchülerInnen die zweite Fremdsprache bis zum Abitur. Die vorliegende Dissertationsschrift geht der Frage nach, wie SchülerInnen ihren Französisch- bzw. Spanischunterricht erleben. Anhand von vier Fallanalysen rekonstruiert die Autorin, welche Bedeutung SchülerInnen dem Lernen der zweiten Fremdsprache am Ende der Sekundarstufe I zuschreiben. Damit liefert die Arbeit wichtige Erkenntnisse für die romanistische Fremdsprachenforschung und Lehrerbildung.
