In questo breve libro vengono analizzate le analogie e le differenze tra il Code Civil francese del 1815, per volontà di Napoleone, il codice civile tedesco del 1900 – il Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch, meglio conosciuto come BGB - e quello italiano del 1942.
Si parte da un percorso storico, per poi passare da un punto di vista prettamente giuridico comparato.
In particolare viene trattato il modo in cui vengono presi in considerazione i modelli francesi e tedeschi in Italia, sia nel codice civile del 1865, sia nella ricodificazione del codice avvenuta un secolo dopo durante il periodo fascista.
Chiude il lavoro una attenta comprensione della struttura del codice italiano e una comparazione del codice civile del 1865 con quello del 1942.
