In dit essay onderzoekt Joke J. Hermsen met denkers als Hannah Arendt, Ernst Bloch en Lou Andreas-Salomé wanneer de mens nog over voldoende macht, daadkracht en hoop beschikt om over het verlies heen te stappen en een nieuwe verhouding tot de wereld en zichzelf te zoeken.
