The eternal struggle between power and defiance – told through one of the most powerful tragedies in ancient Greek literature.

In Prometheus Bound, Aeschylus brings to life the myth of the Titan who gave fire to humanity – an act of rebellion that defied the will of Zeus. For his gift of progress, Prometheus is chained to a rock and sentenced to perpetual torment, yet he refuses to submit.

This poetic and emotionally charged play examines themes of resistance, justice, and sacrifice. Prometheus becomes more than a mythic figure – he is a timeless symbol of human dignity and the unbreakable will to stand against oppression.

After listening to this book, you will learn:

• how ancient tragedy reflects modern themes of freedom and tyranny;

• the philosophical and political messages behind the myth of Prometheus;

• insights into Greek dramatic structure and poetic language;

• the value of endurance and moral conviction in the face of suffering;

• why this ancient play still resonates with readers and audiences today.

Prometheus Bound is a lyrical and thought-provoking exploration of rebellion and consequence – a work that continues to inspire questions about authority, justice, and the human spirit.
