Peter de Ruiter gaat als schrijver en fotograaf prat op zijn avontuurlijke reizen naar Azië, Afrika en Zuid-Amerika en de boeken die hij daar over heeft gemaakt. Maar plotseling bevindt hij zich op het vakantie-eiland Rhodos. Negen dagen is hij toerist. Hij ziet toe wat het verschijnsel massavakantie met mensen doet, en wat mensen doen op hun ingeblikte reis.
In compacte vorm beschrijft hij zijn verblijf in een all-inclusive hotel, de steden en het landschap, de kinderarbeid in het EU-land Griekenland, de Duitse 'vluchtelingen' die hij op Rhodos aantrof en het laatste stukje authenticiteit dat de eilandbewoners voor zichzelf hebben weten te houden. Met dertig foto's.
