America’s First Daughter by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie is the story of Martha “Patsy” Jefferson Randolph, a daughter of Thomas Jefferson. The novel opens in 1826 just after the death of Jefferson. Patsy is left to go through her father’s letters. Hemings was his lover for many years and the mother of several of his children. Patsy knows the story of her father’s long relationship with Sally can never be told. It is Patsy’s duty to protect both her father and her country by keeping his secrets…
