The Forfeit

On the windswept cattle ranges of Montana, rancher Jeffrey Masters is a man of iron discipline — cool-headed, ambitious, and utterly unlike the reckless brother he hasn't seen in years. When a letter arrives bearing the name of his estranged twin, Ronald, old wounds tear open just as Jeff and his partner, Bud Tristram, stand on the brink of the biggest gamble of their ranching lives.

Into this fragile balance of trust and ambition rides Bud's daughter, Nan, whose arrival stirs feelings Jeff can no longer ignore. But the open range hides darker secrets than romance: the Lightfoot gang, a ruthless band of cattle rustlers, is terrorizing every honest rancher in the territory — and their crimes threaten to collide with the Masters brothers' divided fates in ways no one could foresee.

A sweeping tale of loyalty, sacrifice, and the price men pay for the ties that bind them, Ridgwell Cullum's The Forfeit is classic Western storytelling at its most gripping — where love, duty, and vengeance ride the same trail.
