Het sprookje Vrouw Holle is geschreven door de Gebroeders Grimm.
De jongste dochter werkt keihard, zo hard dat haar vingers bloeden van het spinnen. Als ze de spoel af wil wassen, valt deze in een put en springt ze erachteraan. Dan komt ze terecht bij Vrouw Holle. Ze werkt hard maar Vrouw Holle zorgt goed voor haar. Toch wil ze weer terug naar huis. Vrouw Holle vind dit goed en beloont haar voor haar harde werk. Als ze thuiskomt wil moeder voor de oudste dochter ook zo'n mooie beloning. De oudste dochter is niet zo'n harde werker als haar jongere zus. Ze krijgt dus ook geen beloning maar heel iets anders van vrouw holle....
De moraal van het verhaal is: Hard werken wordt beloond.
