يكشف هذا الكتاب عن أغلاط اللغويين القدمين، وخير من بحث في هذا الموضوع "بطرس جبرائيل يوسف عواد" والمعروف بالأب أنستاس الكرملي وهو رجل دين مسيحي، ولغوي، عراقي – لبناني" وضع كتباً مهمة وأبحاثاً في العربية يرى فيها أن الخروج على العربية خطأ لا يمكن قبوله. وكان يدعو للتصحيح اللغوي والحفاظ على اللغة العربية وألّف معجماً سمّاه (المساعد) ويعد كتاب أغلاط اللغويين الأقدمين من أهم كتبه المطبوعة ونُشر في بغداد سنة 1932م إضافة إلى كتب أخرى، وأكثر من 1300 مقالة تمثّل جزءاً كبيراً من إنتاجه الأدبي. يضم هذا الكتاب عرضاً لمجموع المقالات المتسلسلة التي نُشرت في سنة 1932 بعنوان "أغلاط اللغويين الأقدمين" في جريدة الإهرام المصرية وهي مقالات نقدية هامة لأدباء عرب ومصريين تناولت الأب أنستاس الكرملي
