اعتبرت الاستخبارات النازية الألمانية جمعية "الحرس الحديدي" (1943 و1944) التي أنشأها الملك فاروق إحدى أهم القواعد المؤهلة لدعم وتلبية احتياجات محطتها الكائنة في مصر,كما اعتبرتها أحد أهم السواتر الصالحة لتغطية مجمل أنشطة تلك المحطة, الأمر الذي أكده لاحقاً "مايلز كوبلاند" رئيس الاستخبارات المركزية الأمريكية بمصر خلال الفترة نفسها في كتابه الشهير " لعبة الأمم" .. وفيه قال " إن الإستخبارات الألمانية رأت في جماعة الحرس الحديدى نقطة إرتكاز هامة،وساعد على ذلك التوجه العفوى للملك نحو المحور ".
