محمد إقبال شاعرٌ نابغة، وفيلسوف مبدع ، إنه شاعر من أصول باكستانية، درس العربية والفارسية،وتأثر كثيرا بهاتين اللغتين،حيث تركت العربية آثارها على شعره، وانعكست الفارسية على حياته وعالمه الداخلي ، فكان كثير الشغفوالعكوف على دراسة التصوف الفارسي؛ حتى تأثر بهذا التصوف في حياته اليومية وفي سيرته وفي كتابته أيضا. ولعل هذا الكتاب أقل ما يوصف به أنه صورة صادقة رائعة لكاتبه ولموضوعه ، فهو لا يصور إقبالًا وحده، وإنما يصور معه مؤلفه عبد الوهاب عزام، كلا الرجلين كان عذب الروح محببًا إلى القلوب،وكلا الرجلين كان بعيد المرامي.. وهذا ما سيتضح ضمن صفحات هذا الكتاب.
