王尔德的童话语言如诗般精致，英国《典雅》杂志将其与安徒生并列，称《自私的巨人》为“完美之作”。两部原版童话集《快乐王子与其他故事》（1888年）和《石榴之家》（1891年）现已被译为多国语言，林徽因、张炽恒等名家均参与过中译本翻译。2020年后，多个插图版被列入中国中小学推荐书目，成为跨年龄段的文学经典。
