Ludwig Van Beethoven

In questa tomba oscura, WoO133, is the result of a musical challenge issued in 1807-1808, when composers were invited to set the poem by Giuseppe Carpani (1752-1825), an Italian poet resident in Vienna. Sixty-three composers obliged, but Beethoven’s setting is the most memorable and favoured version. 
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 – 1827) was a seminal German composer. He had a significant influence on the transition from the Classical to the Romantic era of music, and to this day he is considered to be one the most celebrated and important composers of all time.
