"Can I ask you something?"

He paused, meeting my gaze, then nodded. "Sure, ask away."

"What happened last night? The last thing I remember is trying to call my best friend, and the next thing I know, I wake up here in this bed with no memory of how I got here."

That man—whom I had referred to as "my man" just to get rid of Kevin—was the one who came to my defense, sending the obnoxious guy packing. I briefly spoke to him afterward but soon switched from martini to whiskey, trying to push out the thought of what I might’ve wanted with him. He introduced himself to me, and I did the same. I then reached my limit and planned to call my best friend, Diya, to take me home. That’s the last thing I remembered.
