Elara, a light-wielder from the Sun Court, is sent as a political prisoner to the Shadow Kingdom, where she's forced to serve the brooding Shadow King, Kael. She expects darkness and cruelty, but finds instead a man burdened by a curse that slowly consumes his soul. As political tensions between their kingdoms reach a boiling point, Elara discovers that breaking Kael's curse might require the ultimate sacrifice: her own light. But in saving him, she could plunge both kingdoms into eternal darkness.
