#1 When I went to visit the parents of the teenagers I was going to help, I was surprised by how difficult it was for them to talk about their kids. They were being guarded, holding back, and making sure they didn’t disclose too much too soon to a room full of strangers.

#2 During adolescence, many of the participants expressed their frustration with trying to be accepted by their peers and parents. They often felt like they were not good enough, and their parents did not support them enough.

#3 The group discussed the effects that parents can have on their children. They realized that parents may mean well, but they can really mess a kid up. Too much time and energy went into getting past the bad stuff.

#4 It’s never too late to improve a relationship with your teenager. pretend you’re a teenager and respond to the things that are on your mind in a way that’s guaranteed to turn most teenagers off.
