This episode’s guest is Ashley Zumwalt-Forbes. Ashley is a born and raised Oklahoma native with a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Oklahoma, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. 

Ashley is the co-founder and President of Black Mountain Metals, where her company is betting big on the raw materials that will supply the future growth in energy storage.

The Talk Energy Direct series is a way for me to connect directly with listeners in an unscripted way that is unformatted and therefore open ended on how I take it each episode. I’ll likely be doing recaps and behind the scenes commentary on the main episodes as well as talking about topical issues in the energy industry. More than anything I just wanted another way to connect with listeners and keep creating content.

This episode’s guest is the notorious little green chicken who writes some of the best energy commentary on Twitter, Doomberg.

For those who don’t know, Doomberg is the anonymous publishing arm of a bespoke consulting firm providing advisory services to family offices and c-suite executives. The principals at Doomberg apply their decades of experience across heavy industry, private equity and finance to deliver innovative thinking and clarity to complex problems.

This episode’s filled with discussions about the energy policy failures happening in Europe and the risk here in the US that we fall into the same trap. 

We talk about how decommissioning the legacy baseload power generation in favor of renewables, while simultaneously discouraging the increased use of nuclear and natural gas is not just unsustainable, it’s also dangerous. 

Lastly, we discuss the monetary policy backdrop that is the invisible hand having an impact on everything from energy to the crypto markets.
