SEX: Megan Barton-Hanson - Bi-sexuality and Slut Shaming

Today we're going to be talking about healing from sexual trauma, with the incredibly wise Dr. Thema Bryant. We know that the rates of women and non binary people who've experienced sexual violence are terrifyingly high and post MeToo movement, we have an increased awareness of the problem, but today we’re focusing on finding joy, finding safety in community, and finding yourself after trauma.

Although we will be talking about the subject generally, we won't be going into details of specific incidents or types of assault. And with that said, if the subject is too raw, then please do have a listen to one of the other episodes of Exactly.

Dr. Thema is incredible. She is a minister, a psychologist, a professor, a sacred artist and host of the podcast Homecoming. Her latest book: Homecoming- Overcome Fear and Trauma to Retain Your Whole Authentic Self publishes this March and we can’t wait to read it.

SEX: Cumming, Casual Sex and The Campsite Rule with Alix Fox

This week Floss kicks off her second mini-series on FEMINISM with the icon that is Jameela Jamil. Jameela is an actress and activist- you’ll know her from playing Tahani Al-Jamil in Netflix’s The Good Place, her incredible platform and podcast I Weigh, and SLAMMING Piers Morgan on Twitter (not really. She’s not a UFC fighter). 

Jameela and Floss discuss women being double agents for the patriarchy, being a woman in the public eye and how the media fuels misogyny. They also explore the trap door that is the pedestal, the inaccessibility of activism in the social justice space and the great importance of forgiveness in accountability. Jameela also gives some sage advice on life after being cancelled and helps Floss answer some of your questions- after giving some juicy details about her relationship with the Kardashians!

(That last bit is an exaggeration and an excellent example of the kind of click-bait Floss and Jameela want you to watch out for.)

FEMINISM: Jameela Jamil - Misogyny, Media and Mistakes

It’s Episode 2 of our Feminism mini-series and Floss is joined by the glamorous and hilarious genius that is Shon Faye. Shon is a writer, editor, journalist, and presenter known for her commentary on LGBTQ plus, women's and mental health issues. She hosts the podcast, Call Me Mother and is the author of the book, the Transgender Issue: An argument for justice. Floss and Shon deep dive into some thorny issues this week, exploring the culture war being waged against trans people in the media, what exactly a Radical Feminist is and addressing why trans rights are so divisive amongst both the left and the right.

Shon- with her usual fluency and dry wit- also shares her insights into the significance of class-based solidarity, why the trans-community are used as a scapegoat when they comprise less than 1% of the population and how we can all be mindful of checking our own transphobia when including trans people within the feminist movement. At the end of the episode, Floss and Shon answer your questions on desirability politics and trans-liberation.

FEMINISM: Trans Liberation, Culture Wars and Class with Shon Faye

For this Episode of Exactly, we welcome feminist podcasting royalty- HRH Deborah Frances White. Deborah is a comedian, podcaster, author and the host of the wildly successful The Guilty Feminist podcast. She is responsible for waving many of us- Floss included- off on our feminist journeys and addresses the shame, anxiety and- well- guilt that dominates womanhood with subtlety and silliness. We. Floss and Deborah discuss how diets are like Deborah’s time as a Jehovah’s Witness and grapple with what a “feminist choice” is. They also explore how the patriarchy negatively impacts men and how an abundance mindset can create a “new girls club” to rival “the old boys club.” Later, they answer your questions on internalised misogyny and girl to girl toxicity.

FEMINISM: Choices, Cults and Guilt with Deborah Frances White

In our fourth and final episode of our feminism mini-series Floss is joined by founder of the free period movement, the award winning Amika George, for a call in, where we get to hear from YOU. Amika is an activist, author and icon who is literally dripping in awards. She founded the Free Periods movement in her bedroom when she was just 17 which resulted in her persuading the UK government to provide free menstrual products in all English schools and colleges from January 2020. Last year she published her first book Make It Happen: How To Be An Activist- isn’t she the coolest?!

Amika studied history at Cambridge University and Floss couldn’t be in better company to answer your questions on feminism. Together they pull apart what we mean by ‘patriarchy’, analyse why ‘periods’ are so taboo and take a look at why Doja Cat shaking her arse has men all hot and bothered.
