A new pop culture podcast with a mix of news, cultural criticism, and comedy through a queer-trans lens, hosted by Fran Tirado and Rose Dommu.
Though they are best friends now, Fran and Rose grew up very differently. Fran was a cult-ish, sheltered Christian camp counselor and Rose had a penchant for writing deranged fanfiction. Now they’re both godless heathens taking a look back at the formative classics that popped their cherries and made them who they are.
Each week, the show starts off with a breakdown of the week’s pop culture news, then does a deep dive into one cultural object that one of them might be experiencing for the first time. They’ll also invite writers, comedians, activists, and entertainers to help them break it down.

Fran and Rose make history as the first friends to start a podcast. Their inaugural episode delves into the first media franchise Rose ever stanned and Fran’s first forbidden love: the wizarding world of Harry Potter. At its purest, this podcast trafficks in the kind of art that requires sustained evangelizing to ensnare a new fan. Works of art so maligned, so… memed that it’s difficult to tell on first watch if true fans like it earnestly or ironically. Rose has been trying to get Fran to love and appreciate Twilight for years. They did finally watch it together after many botched attempts, but Fran still isn’t convinced. So Rose recruited today’s guest, famous Twihard and writer Peyton Dix to help her persuade Fran of the beauty and complexity of everything Twilight: the movies mainly but also the books they’re based on, the soundtracks, the wigs, the Mormon sensibility, and many other inane details that make Twilight singular and maddening. Virgin challenge: if you’ve never consumed Twilight, try to listen to this episode and not immediately go watch it.
